Some things to do if your winnings don't arrive in the post
- Did you send the Payment? (Yes, people do forget!)
- Has the payment been received?
- Has the payment been rejected or refunded due to an error, mistake etc?
- Did you include the item number with the payment? (If not the Seller might be having problems matching your payment to his recently sold items)
- Has it been posted. Before you start to worry about your parcel being lost in the post,
you need to be sure it has actually been posted.
There are a number of reasons why your parcel might not have been posted yet
- The Seller might be waiting for your payment to clear (some even wait for payments made via PayPal to reach their banks!)
- The Seller might only post once per week.
- The Seller might be waiting to receive the item himself.
This is known as a Pre-Sales Listing - The Seller is allowed 30 days from the end of the auction
to supply the goods and it should have been clearly stated in the auction that is was a Pre-Sales listing.
If it was not clear you might want to report them
(
Rules on Pre-Sales)
- Don't make assumptions about when the parcel was posted based on what you do as a seller or
your experiences to date.
- Contact the Seller and find out
- when the parcel was posted (Date & time),
- what service was used (1st Class, 2nd Class, Courier etc)
- where it was posted from (Postbox or Post Office and what town)
- where it was posted too (did they get your address right?)
- how was it packed (box, jiffy bag, envelope etc)
- how was it addressed (printed label or hand written)
- if it is trackable
- was it insured (Certificate of posting or better)
- If the Seller is not answering his e-mails, Request Their Contact Details.
Request Contact Details
and phone them.
If the contact details are false or incomplete report then
Rules & Safety Web Form
- If the Seller is not responding to e-mails or phone calls have a look at the
Non Selling Sellers page for more help.
- If you are unable to contact the Seller you might be tempted to use feedback to
leave them a message or warn others about the problem...... But as this cant be
retracted it is not recommended except as a last resort if all else fails.
(The unresponsive are often the quickest at leaving reciprocal retaliatory feedback!)
- Are there postal delays? (Industrial action by sorting office workers, pre Christmas etc).
- If the Parcel has been posted and has been given sufficient time to arrive check with your
neighbours to see if they took the parcel in for you and with others in your home
who might have taken it in and forgotten to tell you about it.
- If you see him/her ask your postie about the parcel, they might remember it.
- Check with your local sorting office to see if they have your parcel.
- If your address was unreadable or on a printed label which has fallen off the parcel might have
been returned to the sender or be being held at a sorting office somewhere waiting to be claimed.
- If the parcel is still missing then a claim for loss / compensation will need to be
sent to the post office. The Seller is in the best 'position' to do this as much
of the information needed will be known to them, but some Sellers leave it to the
Buyer to make the claim.
