The Non Paying Bidders Process Explained
| | | | | | | |
Within 7 Days
Buyer and Seller contact each other to complete sale. If either Buyer or Seller are having
problems contacting each other
here are some of the reasons and things to try -
E-mail Problems
|
|---|
|
|
3 to 30 Days
If necessary the seller can issue a
Payment Reminder
this is found
on the My eBay Selling page, click on the in the relevant Items I've Sold detail line
|
|---|
|
|
7 to 45 Days
If for any reason, either mutually agreed on or not, the buyer does not
buy the item the next step is to issue a
Non Paying Bidder Alert
You are then required to enter the item number and select the reason you are issuing the alert
|
|---|
|
|
17 to 60 Days
If the buyer has still not paid 10 days after issuing the Non Paying Bidder Alert
the seller can then
Request a Final Value Fee Credit.
It is at this point that the buyers record is marked as a Non Paying Bidder, if this happens 3 times they are Indefinitely Suspended
from eBay. If the reason for the Non Payment is by mutual consent eBay might not mark the buyer as a Non Paying Bidder.

|
|
17 to 90 Days
If after receiving your Final Value Fee credit you work things out
with the buyer you can
Remove the Warnings
against them and repay your Final Value Fee and proceed with the sale.
You should be warned that once reversed the process cannot be started again, so only remove the warning
once the whole transaction has completed.

7 to 90 Days
You have a couple of options with the item you where selling
- If you have other bidders on the item you can make them a Second Chance Offer, the link for this
is on the item description page.
- Otherwise you can Relist the Item, the link for this is on the my eBay Selling Page,
This is available until day 30
(If you have other things to sell it is worth delaying relisting the item you just had
problems with as until near the end of the 30 day relisting period or can relist and
use the revise an item link to swap the item for another one)
At some point in this process you should contact the Non Paying Bidder and
formally withdraw the offer of sale.
